The Back Porch

This is the first official post on the Back Porch blog.

This is a place you can check out from time to time to hear what those of us who are putting the Back Porch together have to say. It could range from updates on The Back Porch, our lives in general, upcoming events, idea-mongering, or even an Emilio Estevez joke or two. Be sure to bookmark this page, and for those of you who are into the RSS subscription thing, that’s an option fort his page as well.

Right now I’ll just go ahead and point out that our first meeting is going to be on Saturday, September 16th at 7:30pm. We’ll be opening up the building (901 West Broadway, in Winona) at 7pm, though, so feel free to come by a little early and get to know some people.

I won’t say a lot about this first night, other than it will be a good chance to hear the basics of what we’re about and trying to accomplish, as well as to meet people, listen to and sing along with some great music, enjoy some snacks, and just relax.

I mean, c’mon… You weren’t going to really do homework anyway, were you?

There is a reason we didn’t do this on Sunday night, you know.

At any rate, I’d like to extend a special thanks to Brett Terpstra of Circle Six Design for helping us out with this website. I am certain that more will be added in the coming weeks as we have opportunity to improve on this.

That’s all I have to say for now. In the next few days we should hear some updates and introductions from the other ‘leaders’ in the group, so be sure to check back often.
